How can philanthropy support the shift to living well and equitably within the Earth’s life support systems?
Philanthropy needs to be imaginative and disruptive, especially to spur major transformations towards Fair Earth Living within the decade. To meet this challenge, OneEarth Living and the MakeWay Foundation in 2022 launched the Fair Earth Living Collaborative and accompanying website to make the case within the funding community for the vast, untapped potential of lifestyle and behaviour change solutions to address pressing climate, social justice and ecological crises.
The aim is to engage funders and philanthropists in Canada and beyond in having challenging and inspiring conversations, in advancing strategic thinking about potential collaborations, and in building support for greater action and resources for transformative sustainable lifestyles.
By meeting and exchanging quarterly, the Fair Earth Living Collaborative hopes to broaden and deepen the collective funding community and impact by:
- Showcasing the latest research and knowledge on what it means to move towards Fair Earth Living.
- Sharing expertise, practices, tools and learnings on what individual funders are doing in this realm.
- Learning from and being inspired by other leaders in this area, including philanthropists, researchers and community organizers.
- Highlighting leading communities and organizations having an impact in this area to inspire greater investments.
- Considering shared advocacy, grantmaking and collaborative activities to transform systems for Fair Earth Living.
We invite you to join in this pursuit.
